Room Rental Rates

Hello! We are in the process of reviewing our room rental rates and I am curious how everyone establishes their rates? Do you charge different rates for RSO’s, departments, and public? How are your rates determined? How often are they reviewed and what is your philosophy or process for increasing? Thanks in advance!

Hi Becki – at Temple University we have different room rates for different user groups. For-profits pay the max rate, non-profits pay 60%, internals pay 20%, students pay $0. Internal rates are meant to be breakeven on operating costs but we have not been allowed to increase rates for at least 10 years despite costs increasing. External rates can be whatever we want but we review surrounding area rates and try to be comparable. I review rates yearly. Given most of our business is students or internal departments the breakeven rate proposition set forth by the Internal Fee Committee at Temple University guides the philosophy.
