Hi Kim,
We differentiate our price structure between conference rooms and event spaces. In event spaces all installed AV is included in the hourly room rental fee. In the event spaces there is a room rental fee and an event package. The event package covers labor and AV, the latter giving you access to all departmentally owned equipment. There are multiple event packages based on the needs of an event designed to cover additional labor and equipment for more technically complex events.
We don’t have an after hours fee. Our academic hours are extensive enough that it’s not an issue and the requests we get in the summer are so few and far between that it’s not been worth exploring.
Registered Student Organizations, Greek chapters, and Club Sports get the room rental fees waived. That gives them free access to our conference rooms and discounted use of event spaces.
We are prohibited from directly booking non-SU organizations which requires any such organization to work through a campus sponsor. Payment comes internally from that campus sponsor presumably so we don’t have to deal with any tax implications.
Our student centers operations and event staffs were recently merged with our student activities office, however those budget lines are still revenue funded.
Our FY24 fees can be found here: https://experience.syracuse.edu/student-centers/reservations/fees/
Policies: https://experience.syracuse.edu/student-centers/reservations/policies/
Being revenue funded our rate adjustments are usually based on covering wages. NYS has just completed a planned five year cycle of annual minimum wage increases which has impacted our student employee wages.
Happy to answer any questions, please feel free to reach out!

Hi Kim – at Temple University our rates include everything and are per event not per hour. There are different tiers based on classification as a student group, internal, non-profit, profit. Everything is included in that rate. If there is something we need to rent then we will bill back to the client. After hours or additional staffing will also be billed back.
