  For some of us, the countdown to Boston has begun. Hooray! I, for one, am incredibly excited to see everyone, get some good solid ACUI hugs, and learn from our amazing peers.

  For more of us, though, annual conference time can be tough. It can seem like all you hear is “Boston, Boston, Boston,” and it can be honestly kind of hurtful. Being able to go to the annual conference is a huge privilege, and for those who don’t have that privilege, the FOMO can be real. Some folks may never have been able to go; others have been, but we all know how things have changed over the last few years. Financial stressors, travel restrictions, family obligations…the list of reasons we’re staying home is long.

  I don’t have a good solution, other than winning the Powerball and making it so every member gets to go to annual every year. I just wanted to remind those of us who are lucky enough to go that we have friends out there who wish they could too. So let’s be sensitive to them as we ramp up to annual and as we’re together. Give those friends who aren’t there a call. Bring home details from ed sessions and keynotes. Maybe don’t dress up as Paul Revere or Betsy Ross before you leave…??
