Happy August!
This is your daily reminder to practice some form of self-care!?
It’s August, and for us student affairs professionals it means we are either frantically preparing for the student’s arrival or already have students on campus and are spending all our time planning/executing activities for them. ?Below are a few easy ways you can integrate self-care into your day:
- Drink water
- Make sure you eat a fruit or vegetable (Dining hall/training meals are fun, but make sure to eat at least one healthy thing!)
- Take a 5-minute break from your computer and get outside for some fresh air
- Ask for help when you are feeling overwhelmed (a simple, “can you run this to an office across campus” can be a lifesaver)
- Schedule a call/vent session with a colleague “who just gets it” so you can talk about what you’ve been working on the last couple of weeks (we all know that if you don’t work in higher ed, you don’t understand the chaos that is August, reach out to those who understand)
- Find a way to relax when you get home ? read a book for pleasure, put on an episode of your favorite TV show (New Girl is my go to because it always makes me laugh), or listen to your favorite playlist
Do you have a favorite way to practice self-care? ?Leave a comment here!
All the joy,
Kait
