    Hello!

Does your campus use rechargeable batteries for wireless microphones?? If so, could you let me know which ones you use and how you manage them?? Spending $100+ on new batteries every couple of months is hitting my budget hard.

    Thank you!

    All the joy,

    Kait

    Hi Kait,

I’ve been getting rechargeables from batterjunction.com.  Specifically:

https://www.batteryjunction.com/batteries/shop-by-type-batteries/rechargeable/combo-md1600-16aa-opt with the Tenergy brand batteries.

We can usually get at least an academic year out of them before they start to show reduced runtime or charger errors.

We have two event spaces that are occasionally running 4-8 mics simultaneously and these have worked great!  I keep a fully loaded charger (16 batteries) in each space.  Some shows may require more so we reallocate as necessary.  We do have one annual musical and a couple of big A Capella shows where we may run 20-24 mics so for those we supplement with non-rechargeables.  I always keep some on hand anyway cause some staff don’t trust rechargeables.  We also have one conference room that regularly uses mics and our Building Managers haven’t been as reliable with paying attention to that aspect of things as our event staff has been so we use regulars in there too.

I’d love for the Shure or Sennheiser battery systems to be reasonably affordable but these batteries are so much cheaper and in my experience just as reliable when properly cared for.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Scott

I just bought the rechargeable batteries designed for the Shure ULX-D and SLX-D units, there is an investment but you charge the Mics in docks when not in use.?

We also use the Shure ULXD rechargeable batteries.  Most of our spaces have the mics dedicated to them so we have docking stations for them.  In our multipurpose room we have the 8 bay charger because we have 8 handhelds and 4 lavs.  Since 4 of the handhelds are shared with the 4 lavs it made more sense to be able to use 1 battery instead of buying 2 since they can't be used at the same time.  Yes upfront it will cost more but honestly, we saved money in just the first year so it was well worth it.

I don't personally trust using rechargeable AA or 9V batteries.  I find they still don't last as long as the actual rechargeable batteries designed for the mics.
