    Hi there-

Asking for a friend! A colleague has asked me about whether anyone has “experience gaining buy-in for an intensive student org leadership experience to earn academic credit or otherwise serve as a capstone project with academic value? Purpose is two-fold: further elevate the learning experience of the role but also to ease some of the traditional curricular academic expectations while in the role. We have a few student orgs where students intentionally graduate a term early or make sure they only have 1 class while in a role because they know the student org involvement might require 20+ hours/week… since this is the reality, the colleague is hoping to connect with any professionals who have been involved in working with others in making the academic value ‘official.’ Academic credit could be part of a ‘leadership studies’ credit or related to the industry/profession most connected to their student org role/purpose.'”

Email me at joseph.lattal@northwestern.edu if you or someone you know has insight into taking this endeavor on at your/their institution.
