    Hello Everyone!

It is officially time to Spring into Recruitment!? I don’t know about you, but I am anxiously looking ahead to the Fall semester and trying to determine how many staff I will need to hire. ?I am also worried about finding students that want to work for our department because we are more than just a job, our goal is to build those transferable skills in our students, and it seems most of our student population isn’t currently looking for that type of thing.

I thought this was the perfect opportunity to start building our Student Employee Supervisor Resource Library.? We would love to see what you are doing to recruit student staff ? flyers, videos, social media posts ? we want to see it all.? Also feel free to post interview questions, hiring timelines, and more.? Really anything recruitment related; everything shared will be added to our library for future reference! ?If you have any materials you’d like to share, please comment on this post!

I’ll start with our recruitment flyer for this year.? I tasked my marketing assistant with creating a flyer with information she would want to see if she was looking for a job on campus.? That was her only prompt.? I was really impressed with what she came up with!

Looking forward to seeing all your materials!

    All the joy,

    Kait

Thanks Kait! I’m super excited to hear everyone’s ideas!!? I’ve attached the flyer and our commercial we created for this upcoming recruitment, where our theme for the upcoming year is RU the Missing Piece?? Each year, we’ve created a theme to try and make it exciting and attention-grabbing!? We have our applications open now, which is a little later than we normally have but will have the application open until the end of next week.? Once we close applications, I will complete interviews, then hire.? We will then have an Orientation for the new employees to meet the returners where we will do a scavenger hunt to kick off the board game theme and get the new staff familiar with the building.? Once they head out for the summer, they have a summer Canvas class that they take and then come back for training.?

Can’t wait to see what everyone else is doing!!!

    Hi Everyone,

We have used Instagram Reels for our last two recruiting seasons, and we have noticed a clear uptick in applications – just from posting one! Check them out here:

    Pro Tips:

    • Limit your Reels to 7-9 seconds, and use video with short captions. If pics go by kinda quick, folks will rewatch the reel a few times; this will boost engagement in the Instagram algorithm.?
    • Use trending audio clips (look for an arrow to the left of the audio track name).
    • Reels are pushed by the algorithm for up to two weeks, so consider this in your post timing (aka don’t post a reel with a short deadline).
    • Share job numbers or specific links to job postings (depending how your campus recruitment site works).
    • Provide a link in bio to your website for folks to explore full job descriptions.
    • Share job application instructions on your website.
    • Type your captions in the Notes App on your phone (iPhones). This will give you clear line breaks so your info doesn’t display all jumbled together..
