    Hi all,

Do any of you have assignments as part of the interview process for your student teams? If so, what are they and how do you facilitate them? Very interested in anything that pertains to marketing, social media and programs, but open to hearing any and all as things can be adapted.

    Thanks!

    Caleb,

For our Welcome Week social media student, I typically ask them to create a 1-2 page “portfolio” that showcases their work. I would not want to put extra work on a student when they’re interviewing, but I do think it’s appropriate to ask them to showcase what they’ve done that relates to the position. See attached.

Ooo! I really like this, Kate. Different work, but similar to what I have graphic designers do when they interview.?

      Thank you!?

      Caleb and all,

I supervise a program assistant who delivers our new team member orientation presentation to all incoming team members. So, for the interviews, I share a slide from the powerpoint in advance (the content is prolicy/procedure info that all team members should be familiar with) and have them present this slide to the interview team, just to get a tiny bit of information about their ability to present.

    Caleb -?

It is common in graphic design and marketing positions to ask for a portfolio of work to judge their skills on if that is more than 45 percent of their job responsibilities. In other areas of student team interviews the only time we have an “assignment” portion of an interview is if it pertains to more than 40-45 of their duties (i.e. student involvement ambassadors, building managers, etc.) for those positions we might ask them to provide an example of working under deadline/stress. Building Manager you might look at a case study of how they would handle a situation when supervising other students.?

Hope this is helpful, have a great day.?
