Utility Cost Reimbursement

    Hello all,

We are curious how other unions or facilities charge their contracted retailers (in their building) for utility usage.  Do you have individual utility meters for each tenant?  Or, do you have a master utility meter and allocate the charges between retailers?  If so, do you base the charges on square footage?  Or, is there another method you use?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

We do not charge, but I know that some facilities charge by sq ft and, thus, a percentage of the entire bill.

In the student union we charge a percentage based on square feet of occupancy.

When we build a new dining hall we included separate metering,  but the cost of adding separate metering in the Union doesn’t seem worth it.
