Podium Vendor for Event Spaces
Posted by Kelly Meehan on March 27, 2025 at 3:11 pmHey everyone!
We are looking to purchase some new heavy duty podiums that are sturdy enough to be lifted on and off stage and withhold a lot of moving around. Do any of you have vendors you have used in the past that provide a high quality product that can be used in our union’s event space? We don’t want anything lucite but rather wooden or laminate coated which has a shelf or two on the inside that we can add our logo to the front of.?
Thanks,?

Hello Kelly,At SDSU Associated Students I am also looking to replace our event space podium/lecterns. We have both the lucite and nice wood laminate currently. The lucite is just too much to maintain with student staff hauling and lifting, it holds up poorly. The existing wood laminate from Marshall Furniture is attractive but heavy and hard for student staff to lift to stage safely, it is also very expensive when I requested a replacement quote. At my old convention center venue we used a company called DWI Enterprises for our meeting room and ballroom podiums. We had 40 and they have lasted well in the 4 years since purchase being hauled by flatbed and hand rolled and lifted to 16"-48" height stages. I am back in contact with them for this lectern project at my new venue and find they have the best price and custom options for the appearance and endurance. We are still considering the D50 or the D22 but they have many others. For our outdoor podiums we are considering the ones from PodiumStop.com, they are a solid poured weatherproof plastic with several options. Good luck with your project! The rep I worked with for both projects is Dan Delgleize, ddelgleize@dwienterprises.com

Hi Kelly,?
Before you start looking for suggestions I would first figure out a few details. First, are you looking for lectern that you stand at, or are you looking for a podium that you stand on. Sorry if this feels nit-picky, but my previous employer had a theater background and was very specific about this, and I picked up the habit along the way.?
Second, lectern specifics: size, does it need to have AV controls on it, does it have to be lifted, or does being on wheel work if you have an access ramp onto the stage, will you ever run cables to it and if so does it need to have channels to hide the view of those cables.?
I find that once you have defined your exact needs and price range than you can go out and start to get quotes based on your union’s needs and goals.?
Best,?

Brian that specificity is not limited to your previous employer – I share it and thank you for offering that clarification! I wish more people could adopt that habit.
I was going to chime in to suggest that Stageright is our go-to for podiums, but we worked with a local vendor for our lecterns. 🙂

Depending on your budget Max-R? makes an nearly indestructible lectern on wheels.? It it made from recycled milk jugs,? I ordered one at my previous institution that was a near exact color match to our school colors and included our logo.? If you are interested in purchasing one lectern to last 20+ years I would highly suggest it.??
