Hello, we are looking at updating artwork in our building, as well as creating some wall decals to modernize the space, and I was hoping to see what other student unions have in their buildings. Hi Jenny –
We have installed a lot of vinyl wall covering and lettering throughout the Iowa Memorial Union.? To see what it looks like in our meeting spaces, if you visit each room’s webpage, you will get a good feel for what it looks like.? Meeting RoomsEach meeting room has an Iowa theme, favorites include: Homecoming, Herky (our mascot), 47 Things (to do when you are at Iowa), Academics, Athletics, Global Welcome, Native Nations, Iowa Firsts, Old Capitol, Divine Nine, and Multicultural Greek Council that will give an idea of the varied looks and use of the vinyl along with historical photos we’ve used here.

We have two semi-permanent art wall installations in each of our primary venues.
At 172 Tremont, upon entering is a full wall mural done as a vinyl wrap that honors the indeginous people as well as the individuals that come into our buidling: https://berkeleybeacon.com/vibrant-installation-honors-indigenous-people/

Then, in our Student performance Center, we have two murals, one commissioned and painted by a local professional artist, Percy Fortini-Wright:

The University of West Florida Commons staff have been working to create more sense of belonging and spirit in and around the union. We have two pieces of art, created by one of our students, in each of the main stairwells. Last summer, we had a mural painted on an exterior wall of the building that is adjacent to a heavily trafficked patio area. We have also added wallpaper with our school symbol (the chambered nautilus) on the SGA and Student Involvement award walls. Additionally, we have commissioned 3 more art pieces to adorn two other stairwells and a wall in the main concourse.
