    Hello all!

I trust we have all seen the historic confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. The first Black woman to earn this esteemed honor. As I listened to Vice President Harris state, “this nomination is confirmed” I got chills. A shift has been happening in the halls of justice; it may not be speedy, in fact it’s almost imperceptible, but it’s happening.

On the docket for The Supreme Court is a critical case regarding “race conscious admissions programs” at two well known universities. (In light of those involved, Justice Brown is expected to recuse herself.) This is not the first time the SCOTUS has heard affirmative action cases involving higher education and it is unlikely to be the last.?

As the SCOTUS prepares to hear this case, what conversations are occurring about the impact on university recruiting and retention of students? And what are the impacts to the staff that support these students and guide them through the admissions process??

Time will tell but for now, let’s celebrate this historic event.
