  Dr. Claudine Gay is Harvard University’s 30th President

  Hello everyone,

  Have you heard that Harvard University has elected its 30th president, Dr. Claudine Gay??

  Dr. Gay began her academic career at Harvard in 1992. Imagine that: 30 years after starting her academic journey and she is now the university’s 30th president. Dr. Gay was recruited from Stanford to Harvard and began her professional career at Harvard in 2006 as a professor of government. She held various deanships, and since 2018 has been Dean of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences since 2018. Dr. Gay is also the Founding Chair of the Inequality in America Initiative, a group focused on researching socioeconomic inequality.

  Dr Gay is stepping into her next assignment accomplished, trusted, and supported to lead Harvard forward. Her accomplishments and accolades are impressive, and that is the lead story. The supporting content is the cultural significance of this historic appointment: Dr. Gay is the daughter of Haitian immigrants, she is the second woman to hold the post of Harvard president, and THE FIRST Black woman to serve as president.

  I am inspired by Dr. Gay’s accomplishment, and I hope you are, too. Wherever you are along the career path is a moment in time, a mile marker. As you move forward your road will take you places you had not imagined. Stay the course friends, greater things are ahead.
