  Black History Month Member Spotlight – Feb 29

  Hello everyone,

  Who better to close out the Black History Month spotlights (on leap day) than Debra Hammond??

  

  When I asked you all to send me names of folks to spotlight, Debra’s name was in every response. And not just her name, but comments about her impact. Debra been in higher ed for 43 years and active in ACUI for more than 30 years. In that time, she has made her presence known and felt. Debra is not as a passive observer or a quiet ally; she is a difference maker, driving change, pushing boundaries, and encouraging the COMP Community and ACUI to be even better. She brings dozens of students to conferences, leads ed sessions, and maintains optimism and hope for the future. Her heart for this association is bigger than Texas and we celebrate her legacy.

  As you know, Debra is retiring this December. When leaders prepare for their next assignment, they impart wisdom to those who will continue the work. I invite you to take this opportunity to pass along the pearls you’ve received. That’s one way you can extend a legacy and pour into a future generation of student affairs leaders.?

  Congrats Debra on a career that spans a generation.??
