    Hello everyone,

For today’s Black History Month historical spotlight, meet Kimberle Crenshaw

In 1989, Ms. Crenshaw wrote, “Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A Black Feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and Antiracist Politics,” which was published in the University of Chicago Legal Forum. In this piece, Ms. Crenshaw introduces and unpacks her oft-quoted term, intersectionality, positing the “problematic consequence of the tendency to treat race and gender as mutually exclusive categories of experience and analysis.”

Law professor, author, and host of the podcast, Intersectionality Matters, Ms. Crenshaw dropped an episode last April entitled, “Was this the last Black History Month?” She was joined by Sherrilyn Ifill, Jelani Cobb, and Cornel West in a riveting discussion on CRT, DEI, current and past legislation, and all things in between. It’s worth a listen.
