Wall Space

    Good morning colleagues!

I am trying to source policies that address how wall space is utilized in your buildings/on your campus. We are frequently asked to hang up plaques from different departments, or honor alumni, or fill in the blank. We only have so much wall space and want to help others understand that this a space for students. We’ve had a committee review these requests in the past, but it is not currently active.

TIA for your assistance. You can either post here or email me directly @ slebow@uwsp.edu.?

    Susan,
We had this same problem at Penn State, so I brought it to the student center advisory board for discussion.? The board put together a “plaque policy” and now all requests go through the board for approval.? It works very well and the students on the board are making the decisions about the plaques now and whether they fit with the mission of the student center and whether this is the most appropriate place for said plaque. And they also have input as to where a plaque should be hung if in fact it is approved.
    Mary
