USU Rates for Auxiliary Units
Hello all,
We are currently reviewing how we address our aux units in our facility. Currently, in addition to food service, we also house the university card and parking office, and the university bookstore. At this point, the food service contract doesn’t speak to any montly/yearly space lease agreements. Our bookstore is over 15K sqft along with a smaller parking office and each pay approx $4.50/sqft per year for their space total. This covers all utilities, some light cleaning, trash, and access to maintenance.
Like commercial retail space in our downtown area is closer to $10-$14 per square foot and doesn’t include any utilities, etc.
For those institutions that have retail locations in your facilities, what’s your agreements? If it’s a simple $/sqft? What do you charge? Are there agreements that share a percentage of the gross sales after meeting a base sales amount PLUS a per sq ft charge?
I’ve tried finding the info on my own. I’ve found policies, but nothing that actually mentions how much ‘rent’ the locations are worth.
