If you want a podium that will last for years and take the abuse of moving in and out of closets I would recommend talking to MAX-R.  They color matched my institutions colors and created a beautiful logo.    Locking doors, computer shelves, laptop rest, easy to add gooseneck microphone or microphone arm to.  I got great response from my campus when we replaced our older formal wooden podium with our new Max-R version.

At the Rayburn Student Center we usually have lifted them onto our big conference room stage, with 2 or more people for safety. But last semester we have had a ramp on the backside of the stage which makes rolling things up on stage a lot easier!
