Massage Chairs
Posted by Cory Headley on November 16, 2022 at 5:27 pmHello everyone, I am looking for campuses that provide massage chairs in their Unions. If you do, how much do you charge, what is your process for usage, and where did you purchase the chairs from?
Thanks!

Hi Corey,
We provide massage chairs in our Union at UMass Lowell.
We currently do not charge for usage of them as it is part of our campus wide wellness initiative in collaboration with our Office of Student Life and Wellbeing. For usage, the chairs are enabled to use any mode and have a max use time of (10) minutes.
For the company we used Johnson Wellness, and purchased a commercial grade Synca J6950 chair for $3500 with delivery and setup included.
Hopefully that helps. I am happy to answer any other questions you might have.
Best,
Adam

Hi Corey,
We have a chair in our Counseling and Wellness space in our Student Center. We do not charge students to use the chair and we really don’t have a process per say. We hung a sign that asks students to be mindful of others wanting to use the chair and limit time to 10 minutes if others are waiting. Below is a link to the exact chair we got for Counseling. It is $1,699 at this time:

Hello Cory,We have?two mechanical?massage?chairs?in the Wake Forest Wellbeing Center that we have had for over 5 years.? They have held up really well under pretty heavy use and, until recently, haven’t required any maintenance other than regular cleaning.? This year we had them recovered and replaced the control on one.? The manufacturer is Inada and the model is Dreamwave HCP-11001A.Here is a link to this product:Alongside?the?chairs, we have disinfectant wipe with instructions for students to wipe down the?chairs?following use.
When purchasing massage chairs, I recommend ensuring they are for commercial use.? Most are only for residential use which won’t hold up under heavy use.? One way to tell is by reading the warranty.? Warranties for residential use chairs will usually state that the warranty is void is the chair is used in a commercial setting.
Our current massage chairs are nearing the end of their life.? We are considering replacing them with Hydromassage Lounge 440X?chairs.? Here is a link to that product:JoeJoe CassidyExecutive Director, Campus Fitness & RecreationWF Wellbeing Center, Room B268Wake Forest University, Box 74551834 Wake Forest RoadWinston-Salem, NC 27109PH – (336) 758-5092?
