Hello everyone, I am looking to expand the services we provide at our information desk, and I am looking at different service ideas that other institutions provide as well as any items that you sell (ie. ski passes, movie tickets etc.) In addition, do you utilize a regular cash register for purchases or do you utilize a different kind of Point of Sale machine. I appreciate your help!

    Hello Cory,??

Here is a list of the product and services we offer at our Information Desk at UW-Green Bay:
    University Union

We also have incorporated ID Services for our university into our area, so students, faculty and staff visit us to get their cards printed, reprinted and to load money on their account.?

Another big component of our Info Desk is that we also sell tickets for on- and off-campus events.? I oversee the ticketing set-up and management for on-campus events (excluding athletics) and we partner with a local ticketing company to offer ticket sales for their events city-wide.?

Also, we do this all through a cash register.?

    Thank you,
    Lynn

Up until this past Spring, our Information and Ticket desk also was a postal substation. We were paid a flat fee by the post office to run it. We sold stamps and took in packages to be mailed.

Through our ticketing system, we also sell tickets for off-campus entities, trips sponsored by departments and student organizations, and for our cultural dinners.

Our desk as we refer to as our HUb (Hunt Union) we sell tickets to all of our campus events, bus trips to Broadway, Fright Fest. We provide and sell tickets for break buses for our downstate students (NYC/Long Island). We provide parking passes for visitors of the campus, Lost and Found.

Our tickets are sold through cash or dragon dollars ($ on campus ID).  We use University Tickets for POS and Online Sales.  We have a cash drawer w/limited amount of $. The students create a report at the end of their shifts for ticket sales.

Other duties phone reception, letting clubs and orgs into reserved rooms if manager is unavailable, closing rounds with the manager.

    Cory,?

For years we operated our locker rental and any ticket sales through a cash deposit system along with a credit card machine.? Last year, we worked with the business office to set up a QR code for sales and went to a card only process.? The QR code links directly to our account and collects the contact information as well.? Has been a much cleaner and more accurate process.
