Commencement Recognition
Posted by Chrissie Taylor on April 9, 2024 at 12:55 pmHappy April friends!? For years, my student employees have been asking for a stole or cord to be worn at commencement for graduating staff.? Just reaching out to see if any of you offer any type of recognition for student employees to wear at graduation?? If so, can you please share!

At my last institution we gave four year employees a stole with our Student Center Logo.? We gave them out at our annual Student Appreciation Banquet and Awards ceremony.? Students really loved them and wore them with pride.

Chrissie,
I let my students pick one of the colors associated with our building design ( we have five colors) and I just order the appropriate number and give these to them at our last meeting, nothing fancy – just a simple cord to add to their regalia. I order them from Amazon, they can be purchased as a single cord, or in bulk packs.
I hope this helps.

Hey Chrissie!
We have graduation cords that we provide to all graduating students who are working for us that are the school colors. We hand them out at our end of the year celebration and if they are not able to join us there, their cord is given to their supervisor about 2 weeks before graduation.?

Hey Chrissie,
Coincidentally, this just came up in our Operations meeting yesterday and I found out that New Brunswick gives out stoles to all graduating seniors, regardless of how long they’ve been employed by Student Centers & Activities, at an end of the year student employee banquet, similar to your Student Leader Awards.? See below for pictures of what they look like.? I think the fact that we at New Brunswick do it supports doing something similar at Camden! If you have any other questions just let me know at our RLT meeting on Friday.

Best,
Zac
