Cloth Prayer Mat Cleaning
Hello from Williamsburg, VA! William & Mary is preparing to open an expansion which will include a prayer and meditation space. This space will have a number of amenities for students to use, including cloth prayer mats. However, the question has been raised about cleaning and disinfecting (as you can’t use a lysol wipe effectively on the mats). Do your buildings have cloth/ fabric material amenities and if so, how do you clean them on a daily basis? I saw some other great discussion in the forum about such spaces during COVID-19 in general but nothing about cloth prayer mats.
The W&M Integrated Wellness Center has a dedicated laundry room facility and staff who clean cloth/clothing materials and the?library asks students to bring their own mats. While we are exploring some options with our Building Services (housekeeping) team, I wanted to reach out to this group to see if you had other suggestions for cleaning and disinfecting cloth prayer mats.?
