Hello ACUI! We are fielding more regular requests for craft and merchandise vendor events, where the sellers are students and not necessarily affiliated with a formally established business (ex: hobby print screeners, jewelry makers, thrift and vintage re-sellers, etc.).? I’m curious to learn:

    • Are these kinds of events allowed within your reservable space(s)? Indoor, outdoor, both??
    • If yes, what kind of policy language do you have regarding sales and vending??

Happy to hear any other information that might be insightful!?

    Hi Sarah,?

Did you receive any follow up on this?? I’m also facing a similar situation where alumni want to return for events, but they are “crafters” who want to sell items as a hobby.? Wondering how others may deal with this issue, whether it is a student or outsider selling.? Thanks!

      Hey All,

In my previous role at Rutgers – Camden, I advised our student organizations and saw this come up every now and then, typically with students wishing to hold craft or artist fairs, although sometimes they would have local vendors/alumni collaborate and sell at an event as well.? Attached you’ll find our informed consent waiver for those vendors.? Let me know if you have any other questions!

      Best,

      Zac

Not a lot of feedback, unfortunately, but maybe we can get some new energy around the topic! It’s been very much on our radar at ASU in the past semester or so.? We continue to see interest in this kind of programming and are exploring possibilities that would allow for the least amount of risk.?

We too recieve these types of requests and I would be interested in hearing from other schools. Currenty we only book space for registered student organizations, department and vendors who we charge, require a COI of and a signed contract. So I am following…

We have a student organization that runs a popular campus farmers market at Georgetown.? We have local food truck-style vendors.? Our Auxiliary Business Services team handles the paperwork (health certificate, biz certificate, coi) post them on an approved list of vendors.? The vendors then pay a fee to the student organizers to participate in the farmer’s market.? The student organizers then submit the vendor list and layout to us to manage from a more facilities and space use lens.? It has been really popular with the students, organizers, and vendors.??

After the vendors are approved, they can come back as long as they are hosted by a campus or student group.??
