    All,
We are getting some push-back from our Facilities Management area related to students involved in activities that include tie-dye or any kind of sign painting (even if using water-based paint/tie-dye on the grass, using a tarp).? Has anyone else had this experience?? How did you handle it?
    Amy

We always give our BSWs (Building Service Workers) plenty of heads-up if we’re going to do an event like that.? We then work with the to determine the best set-up to try to minimize the type of mess those types of events are inevitably going to cause.? We also put in time cleaning as much of the mess we can so there’s less work for them to do.? Additionally my staff and I spend a lot of time investing in the interpersonal relationship between us and our BSWs on an individual level.? It goes a long way.??

      Thanks, J.B.
We’re just trying to be able to allow students to do this outside, on grass, with tarps (and we’re getting pushback).
      Uggh..

    Hi Amy,
At UMass Lowell, we were having issues with events that had paint. To alleviate this we created a document that outlines locations, supplies, and a process for what a paint events looks like on campus. We collaborated with our Student Union, Hospitality and Events, and Housekeeping team in facilities to put together a document that everyone agreed on. While basic, it helps alleviate location based concerns with supplies and outlines roles and responsibilities. Maybe this could be a path forward.

Very helpful, Adam.  Would you be willing to share your document with me?  (alopezmatthews1@udayton.edu)
