    Hello!?

I am Sam Huyard from Bridgewater College. As we prepare for the Halloween season, we are starting to have conversations about navigating Halloween and student costumes, specifically around cultural appropriation. I’m curious to hear how other schools are navigating this topic with your students. Are you hosting events, running campaigns, utilizing student leaders to disseminate information, etc? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!?

    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi Sam,

This is an important topic to bring up, so thanks! Here are a couple resources that might work for your audience:

The attached toolkit from University Denver has a poster and a ton of links.

This link from Baylor has a number of posters that can be copied, pasted, printed: https://www.baylor.edu/diversity/index.php?id=956798

Here are a couple relatively short TedX-type presentations on cultural appropriation that are geared toward students:

    Hope this helps!
