We take it to the police station, our students walk/bike it over every Wednesday! Not sure if they would like it differently if your staff were the ones dropping it off, rather than PD coming to grab it (ours also would not want to do a weekly pick up!).?

Yes, of course! When we log lost and found we use a Google sheet, they either log it in the regular items tab or the police tab. If it gets logged in the police tab, they put it in our police lost and found drawer which is just a drawer in the office behind our info desk that locks. We have had this issue too! We discovered you actually can confirm if an airpod matches to the case by checking the serial numbers (this has been game changing).
